Infotec UK Ltd has recently joined the Tree Dedication Programme, a joint initiative spearheaded by registered charity Seeds for Africa
At Infotec we realise that both ourselves and our customers have a responsibility to the environment. We firmly believe that off-setting carbon emissions produced in the printing and copying of documents is a positive step in the right direction. For every 100,000 prints or copies through an Infotec device we will plant a tree for you.
Seeds for Africa is a UK registered charity which aims to help needy African families by providing locally sourced vegetable seeds, agricultural equipment and relevant technical advice so that communities can grow more food, become more self sufficient and better nourished. Seeds for Africa offers African communities the chance to work themselves out of poverty and learn the skills of agriculture to provide for themselves, their families and communities. Our trees replenish vitally dwindling forests across Africa whilst at the same time young people receive training in gardening skills that bestow independence, encourage nutritious diets, and secure reliable sources of food for the future. Not only does the charity provide seeds, plants and equipment, it also ensures that each school or community is given sufficient advice and education to make sure that they are a success.
Schools use the fruit and vegetables they grow to supplement pupil’s diets. Schools are reporting improvements in academic performance, presumably both because the students are better nourished and because attendance is improved in schools where there is the prospect of a nourishing meal. Any excess produce can be sold to provide funds for the school to use for further food, equipment and stationery, or donated to the needy within their communities. So far Seeds for Africa has funded schemes in 25 African countries, but at the moment is concentrating on schemes in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sierra Leone and Malawi. The schemes are run by trusted local co-ordinators and are carefully monitored to ensure that the maximum benefit is derived from funds. The recent donations from Infotec are being used in a planting scheme in Kenya. This scheme can be set up at your request. Interested? Please contact your Infotec Account Manager.
